best of all worlds #66

It’s been a while since my last podcast, took a little break, got some sun, sea and a bit of a change scenery… I was in Turkey, want to say flew over there to join my friends in their protest against the government, but I would be lying, not to go on about it, but despite the fact the protests ruined the first week of my holiday, I’m glad that it happened… hopefully things will change!!!

On a more positive note, was also in this years Sun Splash festival… really enjoyed playing at the festival one more time, getting a thumbs up from Gilles Peterson was the icing on the cake… listened to some great dj sets, ate loads of great food and too much beer early in the day… the live performance from Jamie Lidell was a killer, check out the video I posted earlier in the month…

So a bit about this weeks podcast, I’ve received some music from a band calling themselves 74 Miles Away, a little late featuring this album, first heard one of tunes (Seven Four) from the album on a Laid Back Radio Compilation back in 2011… it blew my mind away… the new material is even better… the album “Gear Change” is out now!!!  I’m so grateful that bands like 74 Miles Away still exist despite the current state of music industry, thank you for keeping the Herbie Hancock spirit alive… thank you for all your hard work, thank you for this great piece of art… big up Fender Rhodes

Also in this weeks podcast, music from Azymuth, the Ashley Beedle remix is sounding really good… new music from Eric Lau, his new album, One of Many is really nice, featuring some very talented vocalists such as Rahel, Tawiah and Fatima… and a fantastic collaboration between Theo Parrish and the one and only Tonly Allen…

Thanks for listening,

Cengiz
